Friends = Much Ado About Nothing; Rambo = Iliad

Free article at The Chronicle of Higher Education: Richard Keller Simon talks about how he uses contemporary/pop culture (sitcoms, Jerry Springer, etc.) to get his students into "good" literature (Shakespeare, etc.) and how he uses those traditional old texts to give students better perspective on the media which we consume today. Choice quote:

Chicken Run

The official U.S. Chicken Run site sucks (unless you go to these things just for Windows wallpaper). The official UK site is a little better. The Dreamworks site is better but sparse.

You've probably never heard of her, but: Mindy Klasky, a fantasy writer whose first novel is being published this year; and who is (was?) in a local DC writing group with me; has a website up at SFFNet. I haven't read her first novel, The Glasswright's Apprentice, but I was impressed enough with another manuscript of hers that I'm sure it's worth buying...
